Smoke Vision Care, established by Drs. Steven and Brenda Smoke in 1991, will kick off an annual celebration of serving the eye care needs in the Michiana area with an open house in their Buchanan location on Wednesday, June 22d from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Smoke Vision Care first opened in Buchanan, MI in 1991 and later added locations in New Buffalo and Dowagiac, MI. “We can’t believe how quickly 25 years has passed,” stated Dr. Steven Smoke “We’re very proud to be celebrating the occasion.”
Drs. Steven and Brenda Smoke, optometrists, also husband and wife, attribute their success to their unwavering dedication to providing the most advanced eye care services with a focus on personalized attention. “We consider it a privilege to serve the community and have enjoyed creating long term relationships with our patients that are rooted in their knowledge of our desire to help them preserve their vision for a lifetime,” said Dr. Brenda Smoke. Dr. Smoke proudly noted that the very first patient she ever examined after coming to Buchanan is still a patient today. “It’s what we know about our patients that makes a difference in our ability to serve them.” Said Dr Smoke.
Over the 25 years that the two have been examining patients, many changes have occurred in the industry. Continued education and investing in new technology has allowed them to provide state of the art eye care for the earliest in the diagnosis of eye disease. “Twenty five years ago we could only draw what we saw when examining the eye, now we can take full color digital photos of the inside of the eye,” says Dr. Steven Smoke. Smoke Vision Care was also the first optometric practice in Southwest Michigan to bring advanced testing techniques to Southwest Michigan such as the ability to scan the deep layers of the retina for early diagnosis of eye diseases like macular degeneration. Along with providing comprehensive eye care the offices have optical departments that devote themselves to having a wide selection of eye wear and sunwear and feature lenses that are truly customized for each patient to provide the best in vision. “We recently completed remodeling projects in our Buchanan and New Buffalo locations, we continually re-invest in the practice to make a local place where patients are confident they are receiving the best care and products available. Patients often remark how our standard of care exceeds their expectations and rivals that found in larger cities.” States Dr. Steven Smoke.
They also attribute their ongoing success to having a great team of devoted eye care professionals. “Dr, Bradley Mundy and Dr. Adam Urbanski, our associate optometrists and the entire staff of para-optometrics embrace our mission of service and are truly dedicated to creating great patient experiences which are rare in today’s health care environment.” further states Dr Smoke.
Not only have the doctors been devoted to their practice but to their communities and profession as well. Including service and membership in many community and professional organizations as well as charitable contributions of time, service and financial donations to many causes. “Giving back to the community is one of the most enjoyable aspects of owning a private practice in a smaller town.” Says Dr Smoke.

During the open house there will be special discounts on eye wear and eye wear related prize drawings.
